We closed on our Moms house today, and bittersweet is honestly an understatement. I’ve been trying all day to figure out the right word for how it feels, but I keep coming back to the memories.

The home-cooked meals around the dinner table. No matter how chaotic life was, my Mom made sure we were going to sit down and eat dinner together.

The magical Christmas mornings.

Halloween nights that ended with pillowcases full of candy.

All the kids on the block we got to grow up with.

My mom’s garden in the backyard.

Amanda making me play school in the basement and giving me real math problems.

Jamie never telling on me when I snuck out. She’d make sure I knew she saw me, but she never told.

All the music my dad taught me about in that little living room. He played it so loud neighbors’ windows would rattle.

All the first-day-of-school pictures on that porch.

Life definitely wasn’t always picture perfect. But it was home.

Today that chapter closed, but the memories come with us. ❤️
