Property tax bills are sent out, some may have already arrived. What does this mean for you as the owner?
If you own your property outright or have paid off your mortgage (or just no longer escrow), you are responsible for paying the full property tax bill yourself.
If your taxes are escrowed as part of your monthly mortgage payment, your mortgage company will handle the property tax payment on your behalf - but yes, you'll likely still receive a bill via mail.
If you recently bought or sold a property, a property tax credit was applied at settlement. This means the seller provided a credit to the buyer for their share of unpaid property taxes up to the date of settlement β unless other terms were agreed upon. So, if you sold - your share of taxes should have been already taken care of.
