We need heroes. Someone to look up to, to lead us, teach us, correct us. Not perfection, but perseverance. Someone who shows us how to shake the dust off and get back up. Someone who makes us believe tomorrow can be better than today.

That hero is a father.

A family needs a father who is courageous, kind, sacrificial, resilient, and fearless... and sometimes a little tender, because little boys need someone to pick them up and dust them off when they fall. Being a father isn't just a title. It's about who you are.

Robert Blackman said it best: "Father is the noblest title a man can be given. It is more than a biological role. It signifies a patriarch, a leader, an exemplar, a confidant, a teacher, a hero, a friend."

I am so thankful for the father who raised me, and that my boys have such an incredible father in Andrew.

To every father and father figure who has been the hero someone needed, in the good times and through the hard times, thank you. You matter more than you know.

Tough times don't stick around forever. But tough men do.
