🦌 It’s fawn season in the mountains! You may spot tiny spotted babies tucked quietly in tall grass, near trails, or even close to cabins and roadways. While they may look alone, most of the time they are exactly where mom wants them to be. ❤️

A few important reminders this time of year:

🚗 Drive carefully. Fawns can appear near roads and mama deer may cross unexpectedly.
👐 Please do NOT touch or move a fawn. Human scent and stress can create problems.
👀 A fawn lying quietly by itself is usually normal behavior while mom is nearby gathering food.

When should you be concerned? Signs a fawn may truly need help include:
⚠️ Ears folded or curled over
⚠️ Obvious injuries
⚠️ Constant crying or wandering
⚠️ Flies, weakness, or signs of distress
In this situation, it’s best to contact us or May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at Lees McRae College
