Tonight, I got a call from a buyer interested in a property in Fayette, Ohio. She was getting ready to wire $8,000 to “secure the home” based on instructions from her boyfriend—who lives in Ohio but is currently traveling abroad.⁣
⁣
🚩 Red flag #1: Asking for money up front with no formal process.
🚩 Red flag #2: The boyfriend could only be reached through Telegram.⁣
⁣
When I asked to speak directly with him, it quickly became clear that something wasn’t right.⁣
⁣
It’s never easy to tell someone they’re being scammed—especially when emotions and trust are involved. But I will always speak the truth, even when it’s hard to hear.⁣
