So very excited for my buyers to own their own little slice of our gorgeous Gulf Coast.
The seller requested a quicker close than originally agreed upon, my buyers had a vacation coming up and they didn’t want to deal with paperwork while relaxing, totally understandable. The combo of these two desires lead to a close date just a week away- eek!
Setco Services, Valerie Brunson and Amanda jumped in and made it happen!
The inspector, Adam Robinson, provided a thorough inspection and worked us into his schedule quickly.
Together, we were able to get a quick close for the seller, a great price with some additional credits to the buyer, and everyone walked away happy!

Florida Department of Education Shows WCSD #2 of 67 Counties in Florida for School Grades!

The Florida Department of Education has released school and district grades for the 2025-2026 school year, and the Walton County School District has once again earned an "A" district grade while tying for the #2 ranking among Florida's 67 school districts.

The distinction marks the ninth consecutive year that Walton County has earned an "A" district designation, continuing a tradition of academic excellence and reinforcing the district's position among Florida's highest-performing school systems.

The district's continued success reflects a sustained commitment to high expectations, innovative instruction, and a relentless focus on student achievement. Walton County is one of only nine school districts in Florida with no schools earning a C grade.

The Florida Department of Education calculates school grades using a comprehensive accountability model that measures student achievement, learning gains, middle school acceleration, graduation rate, and college and career acceleration.

"This achievement is the result of thousands of people choosing excellence every single day," said Superintendent A. Russell Hughes. "Our teachers inspire, our students rise to the challenge, our School Board and families support learning, and our staff works tirelessly behind the scenes to make success possible. Congratulations to everyone involved in Keeping the Charge! "

I love how our little town is always working to improve things. Our parks have received a lot of upgrades lately, which is so nice to see.

🌿 CITY OF DEFUNIAK SPRINGS PARKS & RECREATION UPDATE

The City of DeFuniak Springs is pleased to share updates on ongoing park improvements, maintenance activities, and future planning efforts across our community parks. These projects reflect the City’s continued commitment to maintaining safe, accessible, and welcoming recreational spaces for residents and visitors.

🌳 Florence Park
The City Council has approved the installation of a perimeter fence around the park, along with an extension of parking along Clay Street. These improvements are scheduled for completion within the current fiscal year. In addition, Clay Street is planned for repaving in Fiscal Year 2027 as part of future roadway improvements.

🌲 Chipley Park
The City Beautification and Tree Board is working in coordination with City staff to install tree uplighting at various locations around the Lake yard. This project will enhance nighttime visibility and highlight the natural beauty of the area.

🚤 Lake Stanley Park
The City Council has approved the submission of a grant application to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Boating Improvement Program. If awarded, funding will support the design of a complete boat ramp reconstruction, including an improved ramp, an ADA-accessible boat-loading walkway, and expanded truck-and-trailer parking. If successful, the city will pursue construction funding in 2027.

🛝 Pat Covell Park #1
City staff has ordered replacement parts to repair playground equipment, with delivery expected by August 1, 2026.

🛹 Skate Park
City staff is coordinating with Florida Power & Light (FPL) to complete lighting replacements and electrical upgrades to improve safety and visibility.

🐾 Future Dog Park Planning at Wayside Park
The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is developing a proposal for City Council consideration of the potential redevelopment of Wayside Park into a future dog park. This project remains in the planning stages and is intended to expand recreational opportunities for residents and pets.

The City of DeFuniak Springs remains committed to enhancing our park system through strategic investments, ongoing maintenance, and thoughtful long-term planning.
