U.S. home price growth stayed weak this fall as many Southern and Western metros saw declines. National single-family home values rose just 1.4% year over year in November, unchanged from October, according to the Case-Shiller Index. Fifteen of 20 major metros posted monthly price drops.
Growth was strongest in the Northeast and Midwest, led by Chicago (5.7%), New York (5.0%), and Cleveland (3.4%). Weakness was concentrated in the Sun Belt, with Tampa (-3.9%), Phoenix (-1.4%), Dallas (-1.4%), and Miami (-1.0%) seeing the biggest declines.
