It’s amazing what a few hundred dollars can do.

Replacing these dated brass light fixtures cost less than $300, but completely changed the feel of the space. Sometimes it’s not about a full renovation. A few simple updates can make a home feel years newer.

Now… before all the brass lovers come for me… I know. If history repeats itself, give it another couple of years and these fixtures will probably be the hottest trend again. 😉

That’s the funny thing about home design. Trends come and go, but if you’re updating your own home, choose what makes you smile every time you walk through the door.

Septic systems really aren’t scary… but they DO need maintenance and understanding. Here are a few things every homeowner in Wright County should know:

1️⃣ Septic inspections are required when selling a home in Wright County
This is a county requirement and part of many real estate transactions in rural Minnesota.

2️⃣ Existing septic compliance inspections are typically valid for 3 years.

3️⃣ Newly installed compliant systems are typically valid for 5 years.

4️⃣ Pump your septic tank regularly
Most systems should be pumped about every 3 years depending on household size and usage.

5️⃣ Garbage disposals can shorten the life of your system.

6️⃣ Be cautious with harsh cleaners
Heavy bleach products, antibacterial soaps, and chemical drain cleaners can disrupt the healthy bacteria your septic system relies on.

7️⃣ Enzyme-based and septic-safe cleaners are usually the better option
They help maintain the natural balance inside the tank.

This time it was a fresh coat of paint on the shed and moving the bunnies to a spot with a little more protection for winter. 🐰

And before anyone worries about the bunnies, don’t worry, when those brutal Minnesota cold snaps hit, they’ll have a setup inside too. Mostly because I wouldn’t get a single minute of sleep lying there wondering if they were freezing to death. 😵‍💫

A little paint, a little rearranging and another couple things checked off the list.

There’s something satisfying about getting these projects done now while the weather is still nice… especially knowing future me will be very thankful.

Nothing devastating, just a bunch of moments that started to feel pretty heavy all at once.

But even on the hard days, I’m grateful. These “problems” come from a life I once prayed for: a business to grow, clients to help, kids to show up for and animals to love.

The losses are still allowed to feel heavy in the moment. Tomorrow, we try again. 💚
