Before leaving Chicago for Denver, I wanted to bring back a little bit of Chicago to my clients who have a Chicago connection. What better way than to gift them some gin from a local distillery from my old neighborhood, . My intention was to gift my clients ingredients for a gin-forward cocktail, but with a recent dip in temps, I shifted to a drink normally made with whisky—a hot toddy. The blends from Koval will enhance any cocktail!

I immediately received texts from these clients, and they all loved the gift!

Welcome to the family, Toby! Toe-beans, Tobs, Toblerone.

We adopted him from in Boulder last week. Toby was found as a stray in Nee Mexico and was placed in a high-kill shelter. Luckily, heard about him and placed him in foster care in NM. He arrived in Denver 10 days ago where he stayed with his foster mom for a few days while he decompressed. They did such a wonderful job acclimating him, and getting him ready for his new home!

What is he mixed with? Dunno, but we hope to get a dna test performed. I have a feeling there is some cocker spaniel, shih-tzu, maybe basset hound or some other short-legged breed.

He is our shadow, and loves belly rubs. So far, he has it in for squirrels and likes to bark at delivery persons, but loves meeting new people and dogs, and leaving pee-mail as calls it, on anything he can hike his stubby legs on.

Here is a core memory from 10 years ago. and I were at the local Chicago news station, with our helpers, Pepe’ and Divot, promoting holiday lights for Brookfield Zoo. I have always thought that cats and penguins share similar personality traits, and curiosity is one trait they definitely share! Pepe and Divot were not phased by the lights, cameras, news crew members, and other guests. Pepe’ loved hopping over the cables attached to the TV cameras, and exploring the set. Pepe was especially curious about everything going on and was given free range of the set! He even had his personal camera crew following behind him filming every step. At one point, Pepe’ walked right up to the children’s choir (while the kids were singing on live TV), stood in front of them, flapping his wings. It was as though he was the conductor! While zoo keeping did not pad the pockets, we were able to build bonds with our animals and create unforgettable memories.

Happy 2nd Heavenly Birthday Momma.

Today, I listened to her favorite gospel band, the Gaithers, got a coke and a piece and of chocolate cake—couldn’t find the Lindt chocolate sticks or “red” sticks as she called them. Here is to you on your day, momma. Hope you are enjoying it with Charlie!

I miss her so very much ❤️
