We gave a special seven year old an upgraded bedroom. She is over the moon.

Little changes make a big difference. We removed the speakers, lit a fire, put a pretty photo on the TV screen, moved the baskets of blankets, opted for a warmer rug that leads your eye to the intended focal point, added a slim bench, different textures of cream colored throw pillows, and coordinating art work to help balance things out.

You could clean out those cabinets and only display pretty things, or you can easily apply inexpensive cling film to hide the clutter.

Disclaimer: If you’re putting your house on the market, it is imperative that you organize and pack up around 75% of your closets, cabinets, drawers, etc. to show home buyers that there is plenty of space in this perfect home. This, however, is my home that is a never ending organization project that we live in and love very much.

Before and after of a sweet little $10 piece of furniture. It’s always so hard to decide if a piece should be kept for home, rotated into inventory for staging, or sold to fund a new piece. Either way, this one was fun.

Going through inventory, making repairs, and writing lists of new items needed. Some things like lamp sets and mirrors are often scored at thrift stores, which I absolutely LOVE visiting. Once in awhile, I find some super inexpensive furniture that speaks to me and even if it isn’t going to be used for staging, I have to bring it home and show it a little love.
When there were only three of us living here, we ate at the kitchen counter. Now that there are four of us and the high chair is quickly becoming obsolete, we have been searching for the right size dining table and chairs for our space. I found a nice used one for $600 and almost pulled the trigger. Then we visited a local thrift shop and saw one we all loved for $80! A few days worth of cleaning, sanding, repairing, painting and now we can all comfortably have dinner together again.
