If you’ve got a large acreage (or even if you don’t) and need some financial help getting the standing dead trees out, Jefferson County has a grant that can help. I know of a couple of clients that could use this, and I’ll be sending it to them. Let’s get these dead trees out of here to keep our community safe!
Jefferson County has one of the highest wildfire risks in the country. An outbreak of the mountain pine beetle, spreading across the Front Range, is increasing that risk by killing off large stands of pine.
So the county launched a program to help landowners remove dead trees. This spring it paid 117 landowners up to $10,000 each to take down beetle-infested trees on their land. The program was so popular that they opened applications up again last week to landowners with more than 40 acres.
