MILLION DOLLAR MONDAYS: Whimsical on the west side

I’ve been noticing buyers are gravitating towards whimsy. Sure… a bright white new construction home with 10’ ceilings and white oak floors is always a safe choice. And iterations of that will always be popular. BUT I think the people are seeking comfort and delight. Little touches like stained glass windows, lived in details, echoes of homeowners past… Weird custom backsplashes, hand painted tiles, pops of color. I think we are ready to let go of the blank slate and eager to embrace a home handed off from the last owner with love.

Maybe it reminds of us our childhood homes, the family lake house, the cousins you always went to visit in Indiana growing up. The family photos, the furniture pieces passed down from generation to generation, and the wear and tear you get from a life well lived. Maybe it’s because these items are starting to become obsolete? With the rise of flat pack plastic furniture, AI everything, and fads that cycle in and out with a bit of whiplash, I think we are all yearning for products and places that can stand the test of time.

Anyway, this home is stunning and you should buy it. The pool and outdoor spaces are spectacular, perhaps the best I’ve seen.
