📈 The Fed Raises Rates as Inflation Remains Stubborn

The Federal Reserve has raised interest rates by 0.25%, marking its first rate hike since 2023.

Why? Inflation remains above the Fed’s 2% target, and policymakers are continuing to focus on bringing prices under control.

While the Fed directly influences short-term interest rates, longer-term rates — including those that can affect mortgage rates — are also influenced by broader economic forces such as inflation, the bond market, economic growth and federal borrowing.

The Fed has also indicated that another rate increase could be possible later this year, depending on what upcoming economic data shows.
