Today marks 25 years since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, a day that forever changed our country.
We pause to remember the 2,977 lives lost, honor the first responders and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage, and recognize the service members and families whose lives were forever shaped by the years that followed.
For those of us who remember that day, the images, emotions, and uncertainty can still feel incredibly vivid. For an entire generation of Americans, however, September 11 is now history rather than a personal memory — making it even more important that we continue to share the stories of those we lost, those who served, and the incredible way communities came together in the aftermath.
September 11 is observed each year as Patriot Day, and today, on this 25th anniversary, we remember, reflect, and honor a promise our country made all those years ago.
