Freeze warning coming! With the recent months of low precipitation, many of us are hand watering plants and trees with our hoses. Don't forget to disconnect your hose from the spigot to prevent frozen pipes! If you have an internal hose spigot shut off, turn it off and open the outside valve. Stay warm! ☀️

Colorado as of January 1, 2026: new heating system install requirements.
• Colorado does NOT set a specific number (like “90% minimum”) in the law. Instead, the rule requires Ultra-Low NOx emissions or ENERGY STAR® certification.
• Nearly all furnaces that meet those requirements are high-efficiency, condensing furnaces.
Most compliant furnaces are ~95% AFUE or higher
Standard 80%furnaces are effectively out for new installs once pre-2026 inventory is gone.

Bottom line: if you currently have a heating system with a metal flue pipe, when it is replaced it will beed to be a high efficiency heating system with a PVC flue pipe. This will add additional costs and new flue pipe configurations to accommodate the requirement. Please make sure you use a trustworthy HVAC company when replacing your heating system.

Horizons Mascot Update 🐾 🐶❤️ After being adopted from a shelter as a puppy, Brownie found herself in a tough family situation less than a year later, and was about to be sent back to the shelter again. Chad was called in to inspect the house where she was living. He met Brownie, learned of her situation, and promptly reached out to a realtor/friend/dog lover, Alli Aman, who immediately knew a place for her.

A few years before Matt was working for Chad as an inspector, Chad helped get Matt his beloved dog. She is 9 now, and is as happy and energetic as ever.

In her spare time, Brownie enjoys the never ending pursuit of bunnies, paddle boarding, and also works as a volunteer siren for Westminster police and fire.

In the winter, our favorite Husky/Aussie mix enjoys laying out in the snow in sub-freezing temperatures. It’s pretty much her favorite thing in the world.
