With rising costs making Denver less affordable, it’s no surprise that areas like Colorado Springs are seeing increased interest from buyers originally focused on Denver. This shift isn’t always about packing up and relocating right away—it’s often about exploring all possibilities online and carefully weighing the cost of ownership before making any big decisions. 💛 Today is National Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses Day.
Each year, nearly 10,000 U.S. children under age 15 are diagnosed with cancer. Thanks to advances in care, approximately 85% now survive at least five years—a remarkable improvement from just 58% in the mid-1970s. National Cancer Institute
Behind every treatment, milestone, and difficult day is often a specialized nurse providing far more than medical care. Pediatric hematology/oncology nurses administer complex treatments, manage symptoms, educate families, celebrate victories, and offer comfort during heartbreaking moments.
Established by APHON in 2010, this day honors the nurses who care for children and young adults living with cancer and blood disorders. APHON

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a rare genetic disease that causes progressive muscle weakness, primarily in boys. It affects approximately 1 in 5,000 boys.
Common symptoms:
* Delayed walking or frequent falls
* Difficulty running, climbing stairs, or standing
* Enlarged calf muscles
* Progressive weakness affecting the heart and lungs
Duchenne is not contagious. It is caused by a genetic mutation, usually inherited from the mother, although it can also occur spontaneously.

Cellulite Is Normal—Not a Flaw
About 90% of women have cellulite, including those who are lean and physically fit. Genetics, hormones, age, and skin structure all influence its appearance.
Strength training may help smooth the skin by building muscle underneath it. Dermatologist-performed treatments can also improve its appearance, but results are often temporary. Creams, dry brushing, and weight loss alone cannot eliminate cellulite.
There is no permanent cure because nothing is broken—cellulite is a normal part of the human body.

Here in Denver, Craig Hospital provides nationally recognized spinal cord injury care. But after rehabilitation, many families face another challenge: finding the right home.

Today is National Food Bank Day.More than 538,000 neighbors in the Food Bank of the Rockies service area are food insecure — about 1 in 8 people, and 1 in 5 children. Colorado's rate is at a 12-year high, and roughly half of those affected do not qualify for SNAP.
The first food bank opened in Phoenix in 1967, when John van Hengel connected discarded grocery store food with families who needed it. That organization created this observance in 2017.
Every dollar given to Food Bank of the Rockies provides three meals. September is Hunger Action Month — a good time to give, volunteer, or organize a drive.
