Neighborhood Notes: Park Hill 📍

Established in 1887, this is one of Denver’s oldest, most beautiful, and most genuinely diverse neighborhoods.

Here is why we’re in love with it today (and why 5280 just ranked it among Denver's best neighborhoods for 2026):

🛣️ The Streets: Massive tree-lined parkways designed under Mayor Speer’s "City Beautiful" program. Fun fact: The gorgeous 17th Avenue Parkway was landscaped by Frederick Law Olmsted himself.

🏡 The Architecture: No cookie-cutter builds here. It’s a masterclass in character, blending Craftsman bungalows, Tudors, Dutch Colonials, and classic Denver Squares.

🌿 The Backyard: City Park’s 330 acres are right out the back door. That means easy access to the Denver Zoo, the Museum of Nature and Science, and the ultimate summer tradition: City Park Jazz, running free every Sunday evening through August 3.

🍴The Food: The neighborhood culinary scene punches way above its weight. We're talking James Beard finalist Yuan Wonton, the legendary Spinelli’s Market, Bistro Barbès, Long Table Brewhouse, Lucina, Honey Hill, Esters, and Fiction Beer Company.

More important than the aesthetics and the food, Park Hill’s legacy of integration is a point of deep civic pride. In the 1960s, residents and local faith leaders famously organized the Park Hill Action Committee to actively fight redlining and blockbusting, turning the neighborhood into a national model for intentional, stable integration. It’s also the community that catalyzed the landmark Keyes v. School District No. 1 Supreme Court case, led by Park Hill resident Rachel Noel, which desegregated Denver Public Schools. That hard-fought history of inclusivity is a foundational part of what makes the neighborhood's modern community spirit so distinct.

Looking do something fun and educational to with your friends and family this holiday weekend? Look no further than the Denver Museum of Nature & Science which has a new exhibit on display "Brick Planet" that is built from 1.5 million LEGOs!

Enjoy colorful ecosystems, city scenes, and a few familiar Colorado landmarks reimagined in brick form. There are interactive build stations for kids, puzzle stations for adults who “don’t usually build but somehow got really into it,” and some impressive large-scale sculptures that make you wonder how many hours went into each one.
