FIVE YEARS.

Today officially marks 5 years since I became a licensed Realtor and joined EXIT Real Estate Consultants… and somehow that feels like both yesterday and approximately 47 years ago. 😂

Five years of contracts, closings, inspections, appraisals, negotiations, late-night texts, early-morning phone calls, “quick questions” that were definitely not quick, deals that nearly took me out, happy tears, stressful tears, and a whole lot of handing over keys.

But more than anything, it’s been five years of PEOPLE.

People who trusted me with their first home. Their forever home. Their military move. Their investment. Their land. Their sale. Their fresh start. Their next chapter.

And I will never, ever take that trust lightly.

My life looks a whole lot different today than it did when I first got my license five years ago. Somewhere along the way, I also decided opening and running a Pilates studio sounded like a reasonable thing to add to my plate… but one thing hasn’t changed:

I still LOVE real estate.

I’m still here. I’m still working. I’m still answering the phone. I’m still writing contracts, showing houses, listing homes, negotiating deals, solving problems, and doing everything I can to take care of the people who trust me to represent them.

To every single person who has bought, sold, referred a friend, shared one of my listings, tagged me in a post, called me with a question, or simply continued to cheer me on over these last five years — THANK YOU.

You have allowed me to build a career almost entirely on relationships and referrals, and there is no bigger compliment than someone saying, “Call Shelby. She’ll take care of you.”

Here’s to five years down, a whole lot of lessons learned, some really great stories acquired 😂, and hopefully MANY more closings ahead.

And just in case anyone in the back needs the reminder…

I never stopped being your Realtor.

When I opened Abide, something happened that I honestly wasn’t prepared for.

People stopped calling me about real estate.

People who had trusted my professional opinion for years suddenly seemed to question whether I was still “really” doing real estate.

People close to me—people I had worked hard for, shown up for, answered late-night calls for, negotiated for, advocated for—quietly chose other agents.

And some even tried to hide it from me.

Spoiler alert: I always found out. 😂

And if I’m being completely transparent, some of it hurt.

Because opening another business didn’t make me less of a Realtor. It didn’t erase the years of experience I had built, the knowledge I had gained, the relationships I had made, or the work ethic that got me here.

If anything, it proved just how hard I’m willing to work.

To the clients who never questioned that—thank you.

Thank you for continuing to call me.
Thank you for sending me your friends.
Thank you for trusting my opinion.
Thank you for knowing that just because you might catch me teaching Pilates at 9:00 AM doesn’t mean I won’t be negotiating your contract at 9:00 PM.

Because I will.

I’ve written contracts from the desk at my studio.
I’ve answered real estate calls between classes.
I’ve worked from my bed.
I’ve worked on weekends.
I’ve worked WAY past normal business hours.
I’ve handled deals on vacations, in carpool lines, and everywhere in between.

Not because anyone makes me.

Because I genuinely love this career, I love serving my clients, and I take it incredibly seriously.

I truly believe you’ll be hard-pressed to find an agent who will work harder for you.

And today felt a little full circle.

While running the Pilates studio I once worried might make people stop seeing me as a Realtor…

and while vacationing in the mountains…

I got to call one of my friends and tell her:

“Your house is officially UNDER CONTRACT.”

Two businesses.
Two careers I love.
A whole lot of hustle.
And absolutely no need to choose between them.

Turns out, I can do both.

And I can do them both really, really well.

So to everyone who continued to trust me with one of the biggest decisions of your life while I chased another dream at the same time—thank you. Your loyalty has never gone unnoticed.

And to anyone who wondered if opening Abide meant I wasn’t serious about real estate anymore…
