Our Big Old Fat Farmhouse Reno

Hey guys!! I’m going to finish out some of the last photos of the remodel for the time being. These are the remainder of the photos from the second story remodel before, during, and after.

This is the master bedroom and my (Heather’s) office. The spare bedroom is currently being used to store things as we get moved in, so I’m not adding those photos right now. That room had some of the least amount of work done to it - just a closet removal for the bathroom space, deywall, texture, paint and flooring. The master bedroom needed a lot. It is on the southside of the home where the termite damage was excessive. We removed the windows, and had to rebuild the southside exterior walls. We also had to tear into the ceiling quite a bit due to plaster damage. We removed one closet in that room, expanded out the bathroom 3 ft into the bedroom space, and then added a walk-in closet to the bedroom. The room was then spray foam insulated, sound proof magical padding (that’s what I call it) was added to the wall the bathroom adjoins to help with extra quiteness, and the room was completely drywalled and textured. We opted to leave the two windows we removed out, and shiplapped that wall and also installed a fireplace in the sitting area. The other room is the before and after of my office. That room mainly just required drywall and texture work.

We want to thank you all again for following along with us throughout this crazy, nearly two year, complete renovation project! What a journey it has been, and we are so happy to have had each of you along for the ride! We will be completing the lower level, and then next spring we will be tearing down the garage and adding a new large pole building and a new deck and landscaping is also in the plans! I will post as we go along for those still wanting to follow us occasionally. Again, thank you all! It’s been our pleasure to have you with us! Now, we celebrate Thanksgiving and our blessings and move the remainder of our belongings in!

We put the finishing touches on the upstairs bathroom today. Can’t think of anything else it needs. Walls were moved, closets were removed, and plumbing pipes were relocated. Then we put it all back together with new fixtures, vanity, toilet, soaking tub, tile floors, and a brick accent wall. Oh and a TV! The TV may have been overkill, but 🤷🏼‍♀️ So, here’s a before, during, and after shots of the bathroom renovation!

Big thank you to all of you who braved the rain today to come see us at the open house! It was terrific talking with each of you! We were scheduled tomorrow again from 3-5 but we have decided we will begin a bit earlier at 1 pm. So tomorrow now starting at 1 instead of 3. Hope to see many more of you then!

Ok, y'all, apparently there is some big Collegiate Football Game the weekend of the Open House (see yesterday's post) at the same time we planned to hold it open...... So, we have also added some additional times for Sunday afternoon as well for all those who can't make Saturday. 😁

Hey Guys!! Ok, we are ready to share our progress with each of you who would like to join us for an Open House to view the Farmhouse before we get the inside completely wrapped up and moved in! There are still some unfinished areas and small things that need to be done - as well as the big outdoor projects and new pole building to come. But, we are planning to get moved in soon and would love for each of you who have been such great supporters of our adventure to take a peek and help us celebrate the near completion! Guys, we are getting rooms put together!!! Here’s a sneak peek of the dining area with the refinished farm table and 9 ft church pew we bought off the swapper site. I had a vision for these odds and end pieces that I was just hoping would come together in this space! Today we brought them over and got the chandelier hung. It’s starting to look like our home and we couldn’t be happier! Getting so close!
