Before closing on the sale of property in Iowa, the buyer’s attorney, or the lender’s attorney, will perform a title opinion.
A title opinion is a review of the property’s abstract of title to determine if the seller holds a clear and marketable title to the property, prior to the sale.
The title opinion will indicate any objections within the abstract found by the attorney. For example, mortgages, liens, outstanding property taxes, etc.
