⚠️ Iowa + regions that got hit with heavy❄️❄️

Reminder❗️CLEAR any snow AROUND the vent pipes from your furnace and/or water heater.

Likewise, keep a similar clearance from under and around your dryer vent.

If the INTAKE pipe (fresh air) becomes blocked, the furnace won't work as intended and it will eventually STOP working.

If the OUTPUT pipe (to release CO) becomes blocked, it could cause carbon monoxide to build up in your home and furthermore,🔸️carbon monoxide poisoning.

Regardless of the type of gas furnace you have (high-efficiency or not, one or two vent pipes) DO CLEAR any snow from ALL the venting pipes that stick out to the side of your home.

If you are paying a contractor for building you a new 🏠, it is absolutely worth the investment to hire an independent inspector that is willing to phase out the inspection as the home is getting built.

By doing so, deficiencies can be corrected almost on the spot; not only cheaper for the builder on the long run, but would also give you (the buyer) that peace of mind knowing your home is being put together as intended.

At Home Sweet Home Inspections, we split these type of inspections into three phases:
(1) Framing is completed; the skeleton of the building. This is the best opportunity to find anything wrong regarding the foundation, load/weight distribution, as well as the exterior & interior framing 🕵️‍♂️
(2) Equipment is installed; the systems that give life to the building. Electrical layout, plumbing, HVAC, and other key elements ♻️
(3) Construction is completed; almost ready to be occupied. At this stage, not only cosmetic findings are subject to be found, but it is also a great opportunity to perform checks on the functionality of all systems/equipment as well as performing a risk mitigation assessment in terms of safety and improvement ideas for new homes. From here, the green light is given for the home to be occupied 😎
