This week has been an incredibly difficult week professionally. Working with other business owners and the businesses they are passionate about is an incredible gift to me. However, sometimes real wstatd deals you have worked on for months for your clients do not go as planned and its often out your control. It’s a tough pill to swallow.

That being said! I am so thankful for the fun Yule Book Flood hosted at the by our book club leader, ! This was the second year of this event and we added a potluck this year! Meeting new friends and connecting with old ones over books and food is a tradition that will never get old for me. Soo fun!

If you are curious about the background of the Yule Book Flood, look up the Icelandic tradition: Jólabókaflóð.

One thing I love about living on the Northside of Des Moines is the amount or parks and access to trails we have! A block from our house we have Belle Turner Park — a wonderful little park right in the middle of our area of the neighborhood. This 2.4 acre park being is in the middle of the block and is best accessed by walking!

This park has a great playground, a short walking loop and the sweetest wooden animal sculptures sprinkled around the park.

Took my guys to the Adult Book Fair at tonight! What a fun event!!

Dog Eared Books had an amazing selection of books. We had never been to Alluvial Brewing but my god is it gorgeous there! To top it all off, I got to introduce Drew to — top tier late night party food in my college days 😂.

Can’t wait to visit again! 📚🌭🍺

Yesterday Drew and I toured the Community Crate Exhibit at The Harkin Institute. This exhibit is inside a transformed shipping container that brings the realities of housing stability to life.

So many important topics covered in this space and they are all focused on information pulled from right here in Des Moines and central Iowa.

- Red-lining and it’s current effects
- Homeownership discrepancies within the diverse population
- Affordable housing
- Homelessness

and did an amazing job on this exhibit! Be sure to check it out before the exhibit moves on — the last day is tomorrow the 18th! More information on the exhibit in my linktree.
