“While the rich kids are driving Benz, I’m still trying to hold on to my surviving friends...” Pac
Thank you all for your kind words and posts this week. It’s been an exhausting and exciting time and yet I end one week and begin the next with 2Pac‘s words ringing in my brain.
We started this journey because we wanted to change peoples’ lives via real estate development. The premise being that if we could change lives, we could create amazing communities and if we were fundamentally sound we could create wealth in those communities and for our stakeholders..allowing us to develop a model for wealth building and community growth that was sustainable.
We aren’t done; and the challenges we have overcome remind us that it isn’t us doing this. We are just the vessels in which HIS will is done. There is more to do. We have to find a way to not just expand the work we are doing, but to reach those who are struggling and in need. The kids the world has forgotten. The kids who need a shot. No idea what that looks like yet. I will be obedient to His will regardless of how it scares me.
The images burned in my brain are of the struggles my folks have faced, the challenges they have persevered through, the limits placed on brilliant people who never had the opportunity I have had. I am not confused regarding how blessed I have been; the village that surrounded me or the friends and family who sacrificed so that the chubby, lazy eyed kid could explore and engage his weirdness. I am who I am because of you and I strive to create communities that let weird kids be them and remove barriers from brilliant kids like you who never got the same shots I did.
We have not forgotten why we are here, who helped us get here and who we represent.
I won’t call you by name, but if I ran with you in places we shouldn’t have been; if you stood with and up for me, you know who you are.
Different struggle, different walk of life, a lot heavier and much older, but the same kid. I’ve just grown. I love you and I ride for you.
We were born in the Woods of the Old West End and we will hold it down for the 313...BUILDING lives, communities and wealth
