Dear Property Owner,
Each year, from February 1st through the 15th, property owners in Michigan have the opportunity to review city assessor rolls and to appeal their assessed property values. Many property owners do not take advantage of this opportunity because the petition and appeals process can be time consuming, and significant amounts of data may be necessary to convince an assessor to reduce the assessed property value. At the Southeast Michigan Community Resource Center, Inc.(SEMCORC), we help property owners to reduce their property taxes, by making the best data-driven case for reducing their property's assessed value, subsequently lowering their property taxes after local millages are applied. In order to successfully appeal your property assessment, the burden of proof is on the petitioner. If you are unable to perform the necessary steps to carry out the appeal process yourself, we are able to represent you and petition the city assessor to reduce the State Equalized Value(SEV) of your property.
