Puente Cultural Integration (DBA Business Alianzas) is inviting organizations and partners to sponsor events on our 2026 calendar. Sponsorship support helps fund bilingual entrepreneurship initiatives and includes a 12-month Business Alianzas membership.

Sponsorship options include:
• Single-event sponsorships ($500–$2,500)
• Two-event premier sponsorships ($3,000–$4,500)

Our programming engages immigrant-led, Spanish-speaking, minority-owned, and women-owned businesses through resource fairs, networking gatherings, panel discussions, and industry-focused happy hours.

This week's post is from January 2023. It's an excerpt from a blog called "Seek Harmony: Work-Life Balance Doesn’t Exist!" by Bridget B. Espinosa of Puente Cultural Integration and Business Alianzas.

" “Balance” is a misguided metaphor because it conveys the idea that we have to give up the prospect of success in one part of our lives in order to have it in another part—one or the other. ” Stewart Friedman

This perfectly explains why I reject this idea of “work life balance” and embrace the idea of HARMONY!

For years we have been told that we need to find a work-life balance. There is no such thing. This is a myth that does nothing but generate stress, and frustration. Having studied music in my youth, I have been drawn to the word harmony. Harmony is different from balance, it reflects the idea that there can be multiple layers working together in a pleasing way. There are many definitions of harmony, but the easiest to understand and achieve I found on yourdictionary.com “A combination of parts into a pleasing or orderly whole; congruity or agreement in feeling, action, ideas, interests, etc.; peaceable or friendly relations.”"

“‘Equilibrio’ es una metáfora equivocada porque transmite la idea de que tenemos que renunciar a la posibilidad de tener éxito en una parte de nuestra vida para poder tenerlo en otra: una cosa o la otra.” — Stewart Friedman

Esto explica perfectamente por qué rechazo la idea del “equilibrio entre el trabajo y la vida” y, en cambio, ¡prefiero la idea de la ARMONÍA!

Durante años nos han dicho que necesitamos encontrar un equilibrio entre el trabajo y la vida personal. Pero tal cosa no existe. Es un mito que no hace más que generar estrés y frustración.

Como estudié música cuando era joven, siempre me ha llamado la atención la palabra armonía. La armonía es diferente al equilibrio porque refleja la idea de que puede haber varias partes funcionando juntas de una manera agradable.

Hay muchas definiciones de armonía, pero una de las más sencillas de entender y aplicar la encontré en YourDictionary.com: “Una combinación de partes que forman un todo agradable u ordenado; congruencia o acuerdo en sentimientos, acciones, ideas, intereses, etc.; relaciones pacíficas o amistosas.”

A Birthday Blog Reflection from Bridget Espinosa - Chapter 54: MÁS

"On August 24th, I turn[ed] 54.

Every year around my birthday, I choose a word to help shape the year ahead. This year, one word kept showing up again and again in my journal:

MÁS.

I have experienced a lot of loss over the last few years, and I am rebuilding a life that truly feels like mine.

That rebuilding has come with growth, change, difficult decisions, and more than a few growing pains.

But it has also created clarity.

Clarity about what matters.
Clarity about what I value.
Clarity about the kind of life and work I am choosing next.

That is part of why MÁS feels so important to me this year."
