Approaching the completion of the construction for Century Partners’ new headquarters within our building in Eastern Market, we wanted to showcase further the space and our excitement by celebrating art and healthcare through our sponsorship of a Special Exhibition called, “The Brain is Otherwise Unremarkable,” by followed by a live music performance by Chris Canas as part of the 2024 by the and and on September, 19th, 2024.

The exhibition deals with a somber subject: illness and the healthcare industry, through the intimate and private documentary experiences of a celebrated photojournalist.

I believe deeply in art’s responsibility to provide visibility to aspects of life humans tend to avoid because of discomfort. I recall the isolation and difficulty I had with communication during my older sister, Niani Omotesa’s, passing away in 2017.

The path to improvement includes facing what we are scared to face, just like the path to rebuilding a structure, is to understand the troubles the structure has experienced.

The built environment of Detroit is a resilient infrastructure that has faced real trauma. The wellness journey for the infrastructure and the people of the city includes facing, discussing, preserving, and rebuilding what has been lost, and recovering from what has been experienced.

I look forward to your joining us for this special event from 5 - 7pm with a 6:15 artist introduction of Sarah Rice done by me, followed by food, drinks, and live music, from 7 - 9pm from Chris Canas.

Celebrating the groundbreaking of The Claire in Detroit’s historic Piety Hill neighborhood! 🎉🏢✨

As we embark on this journey towards HER 100th birthday in 2026, we reflect on the incredible journey ahead. Since August 2000, The Claire has stood silently, awaiting a new chapter. Today, we mark the beginning of its rejuvenation, thanks to the unwavering support and collaboration of remarkable partners.

A heartfelt thank you to our equity partners; our public partners at the DEGC, MSHDA, MEDC, DBRA; and to our lenders LISC, Ebiara, Invest Detroit, and MI Saves. Your belief in our vision and dedication to this project have been instrumental.

This milestone wasn’t reached overnight. It took 3 years, 100+ versions of a financial model, numerous construction document revisions, and meticulous value engineering with our architects (Amy Baker Architects and Bold Studio), engineers, General Contractor, and subcontractors. Each member of this collaborative effort brought their expertise and passion to the table, driven by a shared belief in the potential of The Claire and confidence in the ex*****on capability of the CP Team.

We began our journey just a few blocks west of The Claire, on Atkinson Street, a decade ago, with the purchase of one two-family home. The lessons learned from that first project have laid part of the foundation for the company we are today.

Century Partners stands here today because of our deep-rooted care for this neighborhood and community. This development transcends mere dollars and cents, it’s personal. We’re committed to breathing another hundred years of life into this building, preserving its legacy for generations to come in partnership with its residents.
Thank you to everyone who has joined us on this journey. Together, we’re shaping a brighter future for Piety Hill, rooted in history and poised for excellence. Here’s to the next chapter of The Claire! 🥂✨
