Your kids are always watching. ❤️
My daughter had “Kindergarten Business Night” at school. Each student was asked to create their own small business, and parents were invited into the school so the kids could proudly showcase what they had built.
My wife and I walked around checking out all the creative little businesses the kids came up with — toy shops, trampoline parks, bubble stores, dog tattooing… and then we walked up to one called: “Mia’s Real Estate Agency.” ❤️
I immediately looked at my wife like, “Did you help her with this?” But she looked just as surprised as I was. Without either of us knowing, my daughter decided all on her own that she wanted to create a real estate agency.
And honestly, that moment hit me harder than I expected.
Up until then, I never truly realized just how much she watches me.
Seeing the little business that she created, completely on her own, struck something deep in me emotionally.
It made me realize that our kids see far more than we think they do.
She sees the early mornings when I’m already gone before she wakes up for school.
She notices the late nights when I head back out after dinner for showings.
She sees the hard work, the sacrifices, the uncertainty, and the grind that comes with building a business and providing for your family.
But more importantly, our kids also see the things that matter most.
They see whether we show up.
They see how we treat our spouse.
They hear our conversations.
They notice our body language.
They watch how we treat others.
How we handle stress, success, disappointment, and failure.
They learn from the little things we don’t even realize we’re teaching.
The truth is, the accolades are all great… but our kids only grow up once.
I’m trying my best to be her safe place, her role model, and hopefully the coolest person in her world for as long as possible.
Because one day she won’t remember every deal I closed — but she will remember whether I was there. ❤️
Be at the recitals.
Be at the field days.
Be at the games.
Be at the school plays.
Be present.
That’s what they’ll remember forever.
Happy Friday! I hope you all have a great weekend!
