People has asked me if a renter has to pay property taxes; and the answer just depends on what type of lease you have. If you have a residential lease, the tenant usually pays a fixed rental amount, and the landlord pays all expenses of the property such as real estate taxes, insurance and maintenance cost, this is call a "Gross lease". But if you have a Commercial lease or "Net lease" usually the tenant is who pays rent plus operating cost such as real estate taxes,insurance and maintenance.
