There is a LOT happening in Alabama — and right here at home in Dothan and Houston County! 👏

Austin and I enjoyed attending the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce State of the Economy Luncheon today and hearing from Ellen McNair, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce.

One thing that really stood out to me was the continued focus on making communities ready for growth — not just hoping opportunity comes, but investing in the infrastructure and sites needed to actually compete for it.

Dothan and Houston County have received $15.6 million in site-readiness investments, including investments in the Westgate Super Site, Houston County Distribution Park and Dothan-Houston County Airport Authority. And with 191 active economic development projects currently in Alabama’s pipeline, there is certainly plenty to be excited about.

Real estate doesn’t exist in a bubble. Jobs, industry, infrastructure, housing and community development all work together — and what happens in economic development today helps shape what our community looks like tomorrow.

I may have also enjoyed having my Community Planning & Economic Development guy sitting beside me for this one. 😉❤️

We both walked away excited about what the future holds for Dothan, Houston County and the Wiregrass.
