🗳️ Knowledge is power — and staying informed matters!

Today, members of the Douglas-Coffee County Board of REALTORS® joined REALTORS® from across Georgia in Macon for the Georgia Association of REALTORS® Statewide Candidate Forum. 🏡🤝

The forum brought REALTORS® together from across the state for an opportunity to connect, learn, and hear directly from candidates in the upcoming election.

Candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Labor Commissioner, Insurance Commissioner, Agriculture Commissioner, and State School Superintendent were invited to participate.

Today provided an opportunity to hear candidates discuss their perspectives and priorities and to become more informed about the choices that will appear on the ballot. 🎤🗳️

As REALTORS®, we are more than real estate professionals. We are members of the communities we serve, advocates for homeownership, and professionals who are closely connected to the people, families, and communities that make Georgia home. 🏠🤝

That’s why civic engagement and staying informed are so important. Understanding the issues and knowing where candidates stand allows REALTORS® to participate thoughtfully in the process and better serve the people and communities we represent.

REALTOR® “Pink Out” Day is Tuesday, October 13! Wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and help raise awareness about early detection and those affected by breast cancer.

Don’t forget! GAR is also collecting books, beanies, and blankets for breast cancer treatment centers across Georgia through October 9 as part of the Community Service Committee’s “3 B’s to Kick C” initiative.
- New and gently used books are welcome.
- Beanies and blankets must be new with tags to help protect patients from infection.

We had a fantastic turnout for our September Douglas-Coffee County Board of REALTORS® Membership Meeting! 🏡✨

Our speaker for the meeting was Brialle Veldman with Home Warranty Inc. Brialle shared valuable information about home warranty coverage, including why you should choose a home warranty, different home warranty plans and coverage options, who to contact and how to schedule a repair when you need service, and everything you need to know about the claims and service process.

Thank you, Brialle, for taking the time to come speak with our members and share your knowledge with us! And thank you for bringing goodies and hosting a giveaway! 🎁 The lucky winner was Jade Johnson with Keller Williams. Enjoy your Publix gift card, Jade! 🛒💚

We were also honored to have a very special guest join us—Miss Linda Hawk, Governor of the Georgia Association of REALTORS® Georgia REALTOR® Institute (GRI). Linda was here to conduct a special pinning ceremony celebrating our President, Debra Woods Gillis, for completing the GRI program! 🎓👏

Way to go, Debra! We are so incredibly proud of you and all of the dedication and hard work you put into everything you do for our association. Congratulations on this wonderful accomplishment! ❤️

We also took time during our meeting to remember a beloved member of our board, Doretha Jenkins, who passed away this summer. Doretha was a cherished and integral part of our Douglas real estate community and our board, and she was also a past president of our association. She touched the lives of so many and will be deeply missed.

In Doretha’s memory, her family has requested that anyone wishing to make a donation consider donating to Coffee County Cause for Paws in Douglas, Georgia. This organization was especially important to Doretha, who was a huge animal lover. 🐾❤️

We would like to thank everyone who took time out of their day to attend our meeting. We truly appreciate your continued involvement, support, and commitment to our association!

On September 11, 2001, our nation witnessed unimaginable loss — but also extraordinary courage.

Today, the Douglas-Coffee County Board of REALTORS honors the lives taken too soon, the first responders who answered the call, the military and service members who stood up to protect our nation, and the countless families whose lives were forever changed.

We remember their courage.
We honor their sacrifice.
We carry their stories forward.

Some days, our job is helping someone find the perfect place to call home.

Other days, it’s simply helping take care of the place we already call home. 💙

Today, our DCCBOR REALTORS® came together for the GAR YPN National Day of Service to give back at Wheeler Park in Douglas.

We picked up trash, worked together, shared some laughs, and reminded ourselves why serving our community matters.
