🚁 **THAT DRONE PHOTO COULD COST MORE THAN YOU THINK.**

When you're selling a home, professional aerial photography can make a HUGE difference. It shows buyers the property, the neighborhood, the views, the acreage, outbuildings, access and everything that can be difficult to capture from the ground.

But here's something every homeowner and Realtor should know:

**Not everyone who owns a drone is legally allowed to use it for real estate marketing.**

The FAA considers taking drone photos or video to help sell a property a **non-recreational operation** that falls under Part 107. That means the person operating the drone generally needs the appropriate **FAA Remote Pilot Certificate** and must follow the applicable FAA rules.

And this isn't just a technicality.

The FAA is actively enforcing drone regulations. Realtors who fly illegally or without required authorization can face **substantial fines — potentially up to $12,000 per violation** — and the FAA can take certificate enforcement action as well. Even an operator who isn't licensed can still be fined.

So when you're hiring someone to photograph your home from the air, don't just ask:

**"How good are your drone photos?"**

Ask:

**"Are you FAA Part 107 certified?"**

you can check the credentials yourself at:

https://amsrvs.registry.faa.gov/airmeninquiry/Main.aspx

Your home is one of your biggest investments. Don't put the marketing of it — or yourself — in the hands of someone who isn't operating legally.

At **Johnston Realty**, professional marketing isn't just about making a property look good. It's about doing it **right**. Tyler Johnston has been a licensed remote pilot since 2017.

There’s just something special about watching our community come together.

I had a great time capturing some of the action at the **Wyoming State Fair Demolition Derby**, put on by the **Douglas Volunteer Fire Department**. The noise, the dust, the crashes, and the crowd cheering after every big hit — it’s exactly the kind of Wyoming event that makes you proud to call Douglas home.

And behind all of it are local volunteers who give their time to put this event on and make sure everyone has a great night. That’s what I love about this community — people step up, pitch in, and make things happen.

I put together a little video recap of the night. Turn up the volume and enjoy some of the action! 💥🚒

**Thanks to the Douglas Volunteer Fire Department and everyone who helped make the derby another great State Fair tradition.**

🐾 This is one of the things that makes Douglas so cool. ❤️

When you live in a small community, you see firsthand that our first responders aren’t just there for emergencies involving people—they care about our four-legged neighbors, too.

A huge shoutout to our local first responders and the Humane Society for taking the time to rescue stranded cats and make sure they’re safe. 🐈🚒

It’s moments like this that remind us what makes Douglas, Wyoming such a special place. People step up, lend a hand, and look out for each other—even when that “someone” happens to have four paws and a tail. 🐾

Small town. Big hearts. That’s Douglas. ❤️
