The moments nobody sees…
Are often the moments veterans remember the most.
Not the ceremonies. Not the awards. Not the pictures.
The quiet moments.
Sitting in a vehicle before going inside. Looking around a room and noticing who isn't there anymore. Hearing a sound that brings back a memory. Driving past a place that reminds you of a different time in life.
Most people see the veteran who came home.
They don't always see the memories that came home too.
But behind every veteran is a story filled with experiences, friendships, challenges, and moments that shaped who they are today.
So if you know a veteran, don't just thank them for their service.
Ask them their story.
Sometimes being heard is the support someone needed all along.

🇺🇸 Community Question 🇺🇸

What is one thing you wish civilians understood about veterans?

Every veteran has a different story.

Some miss the camaraderie.
Some miss the mission.
Some are grateful for the opportunities service gave them.
Some carry experiences they rarely talk about.

The uniform may come off, but the experiences, lessons, and memories stay with you.

We want to hear from our veteran community:

What is one thing you wish more people understood about life after service?

Share your perspective below. Your story might help someone else better understand the veteran experience.

**🇺🇸 Did You Know? 🇺🇸**

Many veterans don't realize they can receive a **free replacement of lost or damaged military medals and decorations.**

If you've lost medals during a move, a fire, or over the years, you may be eligible to request replacements from your branch of service **at no cost**.

This includes many:
🎖️ Campaign medals
🎖️ Service medals
🎖️ Valor awards
🎖️ Achievement and commendation medals

For many veterans and families, these medals are more than decorations—they're a piece of their story and a way to preserve their service for future generations.

If you know a veteran who has always wished they still had their medals, let them know this benefit exists.

**Question:** Do you still have all of your military medals, or have some been lost over the years?

The uniform was worn by one person… but the sacrifice was carried by many. 🇺🇸
When someone joins the military, the commitment doesn’t only affect the person who raises their hand.
It affects the spouse who says goodbye.
The parents who wait for the phone call.
The children who learn to be brave while their parent is away.
The friends who keep moving forward while someone they love is deployed.
Behind every veteran is a story of people who supported them through long days, missed holidays, birthdays spent apart, and moments they can never get back.
Veterans deserve recognition for their service…
But today, remember the families who served alongside them in a different way.
To the military families who sacrificed, adapted, and stood strong:
We see you. We appreciate you. Your service mattered too.

🇺🇸 Veteran Resource Spotlight: Disabled American Veterans (DAV)

When the uniform comes off, the mission doesn't end—and you don't have to navigate life after service alone.

This week's Veteran Resource Spotlight is **Disabled American Veterans (DAV)**, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans and their families access the benefits and support they've earned.

DAV provides:
🇺🇸 Free assistance with VA disability claims and appeals
💼 Employment resources and career assistance
🚐 Transportation to VA medical appointments in many communities
📚 Transition support and advocacy for veterans and their families

Whether you're filing your first VA claim, appealing a decision, or simply don't know where to start, DAV's accredited service officers can help—at no cost.

Too many veterans struggle because they don't realize help is available. Sharing resources like this could make a real difference for someone you know.
