New residential real estate appraisal forms are rolling out and by the end of 2026 all lending appraisals will be required to use the new format. Expect to see more detail, laid out in a more uniform fashion. The appraisal site visit might take more time. Questions? Drop them in the comments.

When buying a home it can be appealing to ask the seller for a credit to apply towards closing costs but be careful. The lender will want the property to appraise at that higher value.

January 20. There’s a dusting of snow on the ground and it feels like -17° but my lock screen reminds me that the spring market is coming! 🌅

Last week, HUD issued a mortgagee letter rescinding some photograph and other requirements for FHA loans, effective immediately.
