During several humanitarian trips to Cambodia, we were shown a long-term vision that really stuck with us—creating sustainable projects that can support communities year after year.
It shifted how we thought about impact: not just helping today, but building systems that keep helping long after we leave.

Walking through ancient ruins during humanitarian trips felt surreal.
Jungle paths, stone statues, and history all around—it was awe-inspiring and humbling all at once.

On our humanitarian trips, getting around meant hopping on motorbikes and heading into villages. 🛵
Dusty roads, laughter, and meaningful conversations made even the commute feel memorable.

🔥 Well… this has gotten exciting fast.

So far, 3 local news agencies have shown interest in interviewing our son Tim about becoming the youngest person ever to complete the 22-mile Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim hike in a single day. 🏔️😳

📺 KSL TV
📺 Fox 13 Utah
📺 ABC4 Utah

And honestly… after what we witnessed out there, I completely understand why.

Tim is only 7 years old.

He hiked for 17 straight hours, crossed brutal heat, massive elevation changes, and somehow kept smiling and leading the way. 💪

To commemorate the adventure (and yes… to prove he actually did it 😂), I wrote a song called:

🎵 “Rim-to-Rim Tim” 🎵

…and created a full music video documenting the journey.

You’ve gotta see:
🥾 Young Tim marching through the canyon
🔥 The brutal terrain and exhaustion
🙌 Hikers cheering him on as word spread through the canyon
🏆 The emotional finish after 22 grueling miles

Honestly… it turned out way better than I expected and captures the spirit of the whole adventure perfectly. ❤️

👇 Check out “Rim-to-Rim Tim” — I think it’ll make you smile.

🔥 Many parents today try to shield their children from difficult experiences because they’re afraid they might fail.

Beckie and I believe something very different.

We intentionally seek out hard experiences that force our children to solve problems, push through discomfort, and discover that, they are capable of far more than they realize.

So this weekend… we took on one of the hardest challenges imaginable.

The Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim hike. 🏔️

It’s often called the most strenuous one-day hike in America.

⚠️ Descend 6,000 feet
🥵 Cross “the box” in brutal heat
☀️ Finish with a 4,500-foot climb in the blazing sun
🥾 Nearly 22 miles total

It definitely pushed every one of us beyond our comfort zone.

And then there was Tim.

Our 7-year-old wanted to come so badly that we let him train with us to see what he was capable of. As we trained, Tim consistently demonstrated he was up for this extraordinary challenge as he placed 1st his age group in the 5k and ran all the way up Corner Canyon without stopping.

As we researched, we discovered something incredible:

Nobody on record under the age of 8 had ever completed the hike in one day.

So we decided…

Why not help Tim go for a world record? 😳🔥

To make it official, we brought affidavits for hikers to sign along the trail.

Before long, word started spreading through the canyon about “record-breaking Tim,” and hikers all along the route were cheering him on as we passed. 🙌It was brutal.

Beckie and I woke up at midnight to prepare packs.

We started hiking at 4:35 a.m.

It was brutal.

The steep descent gave me intense shin splints, and at one point, I honestly wondered if I’d need to turn around.

Later, during the long climb out, my ankle bone spurs started stabbing with every step.

But we kept going.

And honestly?

The kids amazed me.

Especially Tim.

He wasn’t just surviving…

He was LEADING. 💪

And after 17 hours of the most intense hiking we’ve ever done…

We climbed out on the South Rim altogether.

And Tim officially became the youngest person ever to complete the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim hike in a single day. 🏆🏔️

We now have a new nickname for him: "Rim-to-Rim Tim."

I hope our children always remember this:

Hard things build strong people.

Confidence doesn’t come from comfort.

It comes from doing things you once thought were impossible. 💙

Across multiple humanitarian trips, we were constantly struck by the beauty surrounding these communities.
Ancient temples, national parks, and stunning landscapes existed right alongside real need.
It made protecting both people and place feel deeply connected.

Most investors focus on the deal…

But they miss what really matters:

The incentives.

Because when incentives are misaligned:
• Deals fall apart
• Investors lose money
• Partnerships break down

Tonight I’m breaking down:

• How to spot misaligned incentives
• Where fees and structures go wrong
• How to analyze sources & uses
• How to protect yourself before you invest

🔥 One of the most valuable things you can possibly find in commercial real estate is a property manager with true vision, grit, and determination.

Because turning around a struggling property takes so much more than spreadsheets and underwriting.

It takes leadership.
It takes persistence.
It takes someone who genuinely cares about the people living there.

I had an awesome interview with our property manager, Vanessa, at our San Antonio project — and I walked away incredibly impressed.

This isn’t “just a job” to her.

She has a real vision to transform this property and help rebuild an entire community. 💪🏢

We’re talking about:
✨ Cleaning up neglected areas
🏠 Renovating damaged units
💙 Creating safer living conditions
🤝 Building a stronger sense of community
🏋️ Even adding a fitness center and community-focused amenities

Projects like this are not easy.

But this is exactly how massive value gets created — not just financially, but in people’s lives.

What really fired me up was seeing someone who isn’t intimidated by the scale of the challenge.

Instead, Vanessa sees opportunity.

Opportunity to lead.
Opportunity to improve lives.
Opportunity to create something people are proud to call home.

That kind of leadership is rare.

And honestly… it gets me really excited about where this project is headed. 🔥

👇 Check out her vision for the property — I think you’ll see why we’re so optimistic about this transformation.

On our past humanitarian trips to Cambodia, one of the most moving moments was standing with villagers as clean water finally flowed from a new well. 💧
It wasn’t loud or dramatic—just relief, gratitude, and dignity returning to daily life.
Moments like these reminded us how something simple can quietly change everything.
