It was named in honor of James Madison, the fourth President of the United States, who was in office at the time the county was established. 🇺🇸

Here’s to the history, the community, and everyone who makes Madison County such a great place to call home!🏡

🇺🇸 Did You Know? Madison County Has Hosted Multiple U.S. Presidents!

Back in the 1960s, both John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon gave campaign speeches right here in London, Ohio, putting our little corner of Ohio right in the national spotlight.

Even earlier, Abraham Lincoln stopped and delivered remarks in London in 1861 while traveling to his inauguration, meaning Madison County played a small but real role in one of America’s most historic moments.

And the story goes back even further. The historic Red Brick Tavern, just outside London along the National Road, welcomed several future presidents who stopped in for a meal and a break on their travels west, imagine the conversations that happened at those tables. These included:
• John Quincy Adams
• Martin Van Buren
• William Henry Harrison
• John Tyler
• Zachary Taylor
• Warren G. Harding

Pretty wild to think presidents didn’t just pass through Madison County, but they spoke here, campaigned here, and even sat down to eat here. 🇺🇸✨ Happy Presidents Day!
