When it comes to determining the value of a property, there are two terms that are often used interchangeably: assessed value and appraised value. However, these two values are not the same and have different purposes.
The assessed value is the value placed on a property by local governments for the purpose of calculating property taxes. The appraised value is the estimated market value of a property, as determined by a professional appraiser.
