Mason has been building away on his masterpiece! It got me thinking - why are some people drawn to new builds while others are not?
Here are 5 things to consider in deciding whether or not a new build is right for you:
1. Floor plans and modern layouts. Often, new builds are modeling the newest layouts and give you options to design the exact floor plan you want. The inventory of resale homes may require quite a bit of work to customize, if at all feasible.
2. Low maintenance. New builds are great for buyers not wishing to save towards anticipated home repairs. New builds have new new plumbing, HVAC units, electrical works and other costly necessities brand new. Resale homes could have repairs you need to save for in the future.
3. Customization. Are you an HGTV ju**ie? New builds give you the opportunity to pick out every paint color, flooring style, light fixtures and more. Resale homes will require a complete renovation to allow for these decisions.
4. Timeline. New build buyers need to factor in the time to build from beginning to end. This process could take at least 6 months. Resale homes generally are ready for the next buyer once listed.
5. Mature neighborhoods. New builds are often found in new neighborhoods with sparse or young trees and empty lots waiting for the next family to purchase. Resale homes are often found in neighborhoods filled with mature trees and varying home character. Neighbors may have lived in their homes for a long time.
