Ever wonder where the name Jeremiah Johnson Log Homes came from? Yep… that Jeremiah Johnson.

There’s a great scene in the movie where Jeremiah is learning the finer points of building a log cabin. Let’s just say the tools, measuring techniques and chinking methods were a little more… frontier-inspired than what we use today.

We still appreciate the old-school craftsmanship, hard work and satisfaction of building something from logs that’s made to last. We’ve just upgraded the process a bit.

Today, our custom handcrafted log homes involve modern tools, careful measurements, proven building techniques and chinking materials that perform a whole lot better than whatever Jeremiah could scrape together in the mountains.

Same pioneering spirit. Better tools. Much better chinking.

More than a decade ago, we had the privilege of building this custom mountain home near Hoosier Pass in beautiful Blue River, Colorado, just beyond Breckenridge.

Designed by our team to fit a challenging cliffside lot at an elevation of over 10,500 feet (2 miles high!), this home was carefully planned to take full advantage of its incredible mountain views while making the most of a small, rugged building site.

To help keep construction costs under control without sacrificing character or quality, we built the home using Douglas fir post-and-beam construction with Western Red Cedar accents. The result is a timeless mountain home that blends beautifully with its surroundings.

One of the most rewarding parts of the project? Watching our experienced crew assemble the log package in just a couple of days. Years later, it's still one of those projects we're proud to look back on.

Every mountain lot has its challenges - but that's exactly where experience makes all the difference.
