​We don’t call Altoona "Railroad City" for nothing, and this week we are getting the ultimate proof. The legendary Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014—the largest operating steam locomotive in the entire world—is rolling right into town as part of its Coast-to-Coast tour!

​If you've ever wanted to see a true piece of American history up close, this is our chance. Here is what you need to know if you're planning to go:
​🗓️ When to See It

​Thursday, July 9 & Friday, July 10
​Time: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM both days
​Cost: Completely FREE (no tickets needed!)

​🚗 Getting There (Read this before you drive!)
​There is no public parking at the actual display site, so please don't try to drive straight to the train. Instead, grab one of the free shuttles running from these spots:

​Peoples Natural Gas Field (Altoona Curve Stadium) - Note: ADA parking and ADA shuttles are available here!

​Logan Valley Mall (West end near the old Macy’s)
​If you prefer to walk in, the pedestrian gate is at 8th Ave & 5th St.

​⚠️ A Few Quick Tips
​Because this is such a massive event, they might meter entry and the shuttle lines could close early if it gets too packed. Definitely give yourself plenty of extra time, bring a camera, and let’s show everyone why Altoona is the ultimate railroad town.
