Remember practicing makeup on your cousins in the room you were “watching” while your parents and tíos were outside trying to get the piñata situation together?

That instinct to transform somebody with a brush has a whole department in film.

Movie magic with a brush, not a wand.

For Saint Primo’s second workshop at the Latino Cultural Center, we got hands on with special effects makeup and the kind of detail that makes a bruise look real, blood look believable, and an actor disappear into a character.

Some of the Latino creatives connected to projects you have actually seen are stepping into the room this Saturday so you can hear from them directly. Superman. Su***de Squad. Walker and more!

Not through a clip.
Not through a repost.
Not from ten rows back.

Person to person.

Real stories. Real credits. Real conversations about what it takes to work in film and keep creating when the industry does not always make space for you.

Saint Primo is opening the theater at the Latino Cultural Center this Saturday for 3 Latino storytellers, 2 short films, and 1 honest conversation.

And if you have been waiting for a sign to pull up, this is it.

Today is the last day to get tickets.

Dallas talent is resourceful, inspired and hiding in plain sight.

Sometimes it is an idea buried in a Notes app that never gets a second thought.

Then a Saturday workshop puts you in a room with people who make you look at it differently.

That stood out at 𝕊𝕒𝕚𝕟𝕥 ℙ𝕣𝕚𝕞𝕠 latest Emerging Filmmaking workshop at the Latino Cultural Center .

The focus was acting, but the room was learning much more than performance. Participants had to write a scene, step outside the groups they came with, find somebody new, perform, take feedback, adjust and run it again.

Concept becomes creation.

Creation asks for collaboration.

And somewhere between sharing an idea, taking direction and realizing the person across from you might have exactly what your story was missing, collaboration becomes community.

That’s where Saint Primo comes in.

Think of the organization like your older cousin who put you onto the series everybody is talking about before it blew up. The artist they had on repeat before everybody else caught on. The one who knows who to talk to, which room matters, and how to show up once you get there so people remember your name.

That is the spirit behind what James has built with Saint Primo. Not gatekeeping the knowledge. Passing it down.

Because Dallas has never been short on stories. They have been sitting in our kitchens, barbershops, beauty shops, churches, quinceañeras, cookouts and family conversations long before anyone realized those were the stories that belonged on screens.

Somewhere here could be our next Coogler, Issa Rae, Guillermo del Toro or Robert Rodriguez.

Or somebody we do not have a comparison for yet.

Saint Primo is not creating that talent. It is helping unearth it, sharpen it and put it in rooms where it can be seen.

With this series wrapping next Saturday, where does that knowledge need to land next?

South Dallas/Fair Park? West Dallas? Oak Cliff?

Where are the creatives with the instinct and ideas who just need somebody to put them on?

Talent is everywhere in Dallas.

The knowledge should be too.

Summer’s nearly over.

Dallas isn’t a city that asks for permission.

It’s a city that asks what you’re building.

Egypt came here and built a loc wash and retwist business. At the same time, she’s continued creating content and showing up authentically as a WLW creator.

That’s the thing about Dallas. Every day somebody is starting over, starting a business, learning a new skill, chasing a dream, or betting on themselves.

The opportunities are here.

The hustle is here.

The rest is up to you.

Some nights in Dallas feel cinematic without trying.

Neon lights, sweaty dance floors, house music shaking the walls, people finding little pockets of freedom for a few hours.

Shot in Dallas is about documenting the city exactly as it feels when you’re inside it — loud, intimate, messy, beautiful, alive.

Last night at Lava Lounge looked like this.

Black q***r love in the middle of the Gayborhood, caught between motion blur, basslines, and green light leaks.

Dallas doesn’t get documented like this enough.

But it deserves to be.
