This is disgraceful City of Dunedin Florida - Government. How do you not even come to the table to discuss this opportunity with a willing and able local small business? I bet many of your taxpayers, myself included, would be okay with the $200,000 going to Local Tiki Rides if you created the same kind of service with them rather than with a company from South Florida. As the town continues to grow and attract tourists, to the concern of many who live here (again, myself included), it's important to conduct business in a way that exemplifies Dunedin's quaint vibe which attracted so many people in the first place. Put your money where your mouth is, Dunedin.
"When a local community has a robust network of small businesses, it creates opportunities for other individuals in town as well. In addition, when small businesses flourish, so does demand for local professional services like accountants, real-estate agents, lawyers and marketers. Small business owners are more likely to do business with professionals they know and trust, rather than farm out their work to a large national or multinational firm. That creates opportunities for professional service startups in a local community. As small businesses themselves, the emergence of these professional services compounds the local economic growth spurred on by small businesses."
