I was going to write something real estate related tonight, but instead I’m choosing to be vulnerable.
I don’t like change. I am a creature of habit to a fault. With that, I tend to easily dismiss the “unknown,”“unusual,” or “different” when it comes to the way I do things.
This week, while on a zoom with some of my people, I somehow ended up telling a story about how I refused to have an Alexa or Google device, and I have Siri turned off on my phone (is she still around?). And after being very anti AI in the home, I now realize I’m really missing out. Instead of having to get out of bed multiple times when I inevitably remember I didn’t do something to leave a note, set an alarm, write an email, or even have text me something because he is still on his phone, I can just say “hey Alexa, remind me to XX!” - right after the call I hopped on Amazon and got me a Dot!
I spent years refusing to listen to podcasts because I am a book nerd - now I listen to multiple podcasts a week. (I still don’t do audio books or kindle lol)
I was anti Mac for 25 years (but pro all other 🍎 devices) until last summer - and again it is a total game changer and wish I would have switched sooner.
It took me 18 months to switch to eXp and when I got here I wish I would have joined sooner.
There are plenty of other instances where I had blinders on and refused to acknowledge other - potentially awesome - ways of doing, thinking, growing.
This conversation really got me thinking. What other opportunities/hacks/swaps are out there? What have I been missing? What am I going to wish I started, changed, or stopped today - 12 months from now?
