As a little girl growing up with a single mom in an apartment in East Liverpool, Ohio, nestled in the foothills of the Appalachians, I used to look up at those grand old Victorian homes sitting high on the hills overlooking the city. Built during the pottery and steel mill days, they seemed like castles to me—three stories tall, wraparound porches, stained glass windows, and so much character.
I dreamed that one day I’d have a home like that.
Maybe Monopoly had something to do with it. 😊 I always loved buying properties and collecting houses, and I was pretty good at the game! Looking back, maybe that little board game planted the seeds for a career in real estate.
Even today, I still get excited when I walk through a beautiful old home. Every staircase, front porch, and piece of craftsmanship tells a story.
❤️ Do you have a favorite old house memory? Was there a home you admired growing up? Maybe your grandparents' house, a Victorian in your hometown, or even memories of family Monopoly nights?
I'd love to hear your stories—and if you have photos of those old homes, share them in the comments!
Dreams really do come true.
