As a little girl growing up with a single mom in an apartment in East Liverpool, Ohio, nestled in the foothills of the Appalachians, I used to look up at those grand old Victorian homes sitting high on the hills overlooking the city. Built during the pottery and steel mill days, they seemed like castles to me—three stories tall, wraparound porches, stained glass windows, and so much character.
I dreamed that one day I’d have a home like that.
Maybe Monopoly had something to do with it. 😊 I always loved buying properties and collecting houses, and I was pretty good at the game! Looking back, maybe that little board game planted the seeds for a career in real estate.
Even today, I still get excited when I walk through a beautiful old home. Every staircase, front porch, and piece of craftsmanship tells a story.
❤️ Do you have a favorite old house memory? Was there a home you admired growing up? Maybe your grandparents' house, a Victorian in your hometown, or even memories of family Monopoly nights?
I'd love to hear your stories—and if you have photos of those old homes, share them in the comments!
Dreams really do come true.

Seeing those nasty little gnats flying around your kitchen or bathroom?
Before you call an exterminator, check your P-trap. I've already told three people this week, and once they cleaned theirs, the gnats disappeared!
How to Locate Your P-Trap
The P-trap is the curved, U-shaped pipe directly underneath your sink. It holds water to prevent sewer gases from entering your home, but it can also collect food particles, soap scum, and other buildup that attracts drain flies and gnats.
Kitchen sink: Open the cabinet below the sink and look for the curved pipe beneath the drain.
Bathroom sink: Open the vanity cabinet and look underneath.
Utility or laundry sink: The P-trap is located just below the drain before the pipe goes into the wall.
How to Clean It
1. Place a bucket underneath the P-trap
This will catch any water or debris.
2. Remove the P-trap
Most are held together with two slip nuts that can often be loosened by hand. If needed, use a pair of channel-lock pliers.
3. Empty and clean
Dump the water and debris into the bucket and scrub the inside with hot, soapy water and an old bottle brush.
4. Clean the drain above it
Use a drain brush to remove slime and buildup inside the drainpipe.
5. Reassemble and flush
Tighten the slip nuts and run hot water through the sink to check for leaks.
Pro Tip
Pouring bleach down the drain won't remove the buildup where gnats lay their eggs. Physically cleaning the P-trap and drain walls is often the key to getting rid of them.
If you've suddenly noticed tiny gnats in your home, check your P-traps first—it may save you an expensive call to the exterminator!

Feeling truly blessed this morning. ☕🦌
Enjoying my coffee on the porch and watching this little baby deer, full of energy and ready to play. Moments like these are a gentle reminder to slow down, appreciate God's creation, and be thankful for the simple joys that surround us every day. ❤️
