Trying to catch the fall colors before they’re gone?

I pulled together a quick update on where the color is still looking good around Southwest Colorado right now — and which areas are already a little later in the season.

If I were heading out this week, I’d look at La Plata Canyon, Coal Bank Pass to Molas Pass, Vallecito, and Dallas Divide first.

The aspens start turning, the roads become a lot harder to drive without stopping, and places you see all year suddenly look completely different.

Days like this are a pretty good reminder of why I love living here.

The Durango Blues Train is one of our favorite local events—and it sells out within hours of tickets dropping every year! 🚂🎶

The experience brings six live blues performances aboard the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Guests can move between vintage train coaches, dance to live music, and enjoy the scenery of the San Juan National Forest along the way.

The 2026 event is officially sold out—but you can still join the waitlist through the Durango Blues Train website at durangobluestrain.com.
