No Filters. When I was in Elementary School, I was the kid that had to leave the “Normal” classroom to go get tutored for my learning disability in reading ‘n math and my speech impediment every day day at 10 am. It’s hard being different and quote on quote… behind. Through my struggles and challenges I developed an adoration of knowledge and learning and became a voracious reader and quant when it came to crunching numbers. That time and those struggles served me well in Business. Then I was challenged in sports…I grew up in Durham Public Schools in the 90s, so I was always the “White Cracker” on the court, and it built character and toughness in me. I was always the Only or one of the only white boys i. Those picks up games…Good, you gotta Sell yourself in this world…There was no spot on those teams for me if I wasn’t busting my ass. I Was the guy that was at the Durham Lakewood YMCA after practice getting in Extra Reps,…and I am forever grateful for that. Behind those reps lay my Spot on the team, which at that time meant the world to me. Then I went for the MBA and I needed some additional help because the finance and economics courses weren’t jiving with me, but there was no tutoring dept at UNCC, so I hawked somebody down in the Finance dept and paid him under the table to get me the tutelage that I needed. I sat in the front row in every class and was always present. I made a point to formulate a relationship with the every professor. Having an MBA was of
Paramount importance to me, and I obtained it just short of honors. Then I went into Real Estate in 2007 and the market crashed months later, and I just started knocking doors, because behind those doors laid buyers ready to become homeowners. Everyone told me, it was a silly occupation and that I should take the 9-5…they said they didn’t envy me. To those of you that gave advisement…I appreciate you, but I wasn’t listening. Now they’re saying, you fall off in your 40s, and again I appreciate you, but I’ve been told No all my life and I will continue to say… I’m just a different kind of M**o. 40s don’t like like a mid life crisis, they feel like 🏡.
