Day one of the conference started with a trolley tour through Asheville — it's a city built on more ambition than most people realize.

What's now Asheville was originally called Morristown, drawing people in first for the fresh mountain air. Visionaries like Vanderbilt, Seely, Jackson, and Ellington saw a blank canvas here and brought in ideas from all over the world. That mindset stuck. Asheville has grown into a city known for tourism, yes — but also thriving aerospace, craft brewing, and healthcare industries.

Spending the day with this group of professionals was a great reminder that the best markets are built by people willing to bring outside ideas home.

It was a meaningful collaboration on the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, to work with so that Orange High School could have fresh new flags to remember the fallen and the brave first responders who serve and sacrifice daily in our communities.

The new flag was raised at 8:46am when the first plane crashed into the North Tower.
