My daughter was all set for a double shift on the Captain John boat yesterday, but everything was canceled so downtown Plymouth could be transformed into "Cousins Beach" for the filming of The Summer I Turned Pretty. She made the best of her surprise day off by heading downtown to see all the excitement!

I thought I’d share some of her photos and videos.

I've watched every episode with my kids, now I am looking forward to seeing Plymouth and Scituate on the big screen.

Looking for something to do this weekend?

🍓 Strawberry picking at C.N. Smith Farm is officially underway. If you prefer the easy route, you can grab pre-picked strawberries at the farmstand; they are so much better than the ones at the grocery store.

🥕 Pembroke Farmers Market is on Saturday from 10 to 1 at the Pembroke Community Center.

🐉 The Boston Dragon Boat Festival offers activities for all ages.

🇺🇸 I have heard we are encouraged to fly the American flag from Flag Day until Independence Day as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday next year.

⚽️ It’s exciting to see Gillette Stadium/Boston Stadium hosting the FIFA World Cup match. Kickoff is Saturday at 9 pm. It’s not every day a global event like that comes to our backyard.

Welcome, June! Here’s a snapshot of May’s housing activity across a few South Shore towns.

In Plymouth County, 348 single-family homes sold last month, compared to 384 homes sold last May. 702 single-family homes are currently on the market.

Another 90° day on the South Shore. If you’re looking to explore a beach town, consider heading to Marshfield. Low tide is at 9 am, so it's best to go early if possible. Visit Rexhame or Humarock Beach.

If you can’t make it until later and don’t like rocks, you could always go to Rexhame and spend time in the Dunes along the river.

P.S. If you can’t make it today, consider visiting this Memorial Day weekend for the annual festival of art in Marshfield Hills, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.

If you're lucky enough to spend this 90° day in a South Shore seaside town, here’s why Scituate should be at the top of your list…

🏆 Named the “Best Seaside Small Town” to visit in America by Smithsonian Magazine in 2024.

⚓️ Scituate Harbor has shops, restaurants, a marina, and the coastal charm people associate with New England seaside living. When out-of-state buyers considering a move to the area tell me they want a coastal town with a town center and a walkable harbor, I always suggest they explore Scituate.

🌊 Visit the historical Scituate Lighthouse and walk along the jetty for stunning ocean views. The lighthouse underwent a major restoration in 2024.

Scituate feels lively and relaxing at the same time. Enjoy!

'Tis the season our lilacs smell beautiful! Here’s a quick tip to help them and other branch-style flowers like hydrangeas and forsythia last longer:

✂️ Cut the stems at an angle.
✂️ Slice the bottom of the stem slightly up the middle.
🔨 Gently tap the end with a hammer.

This helps the stems absorb more water, which is especially important for thicker, woodier stems that struggle to take in enough water after being cut.
