The Falmouth Community Play Space new home is Goodwill Park. There is a lot of work to do to bring the play space to the public. The present playground will stay with it perhaps being reconfigured to allow for more components for 2-5 year-olds. A separate adjacent area for 6 months to 23 months will be built. We will then add a larger area with components meant for kiddos age 5 to 12 years-old. The ninja course and adult fitness are still part of the plan, as is an outdoor pavilion for yoga, tai chi and things like that.

We have to redesign because the original plan doesn't fit space-wise because the layout is so different. That money won't even be available until July of 2025. I am very disappointed that we have to wait so long but in the meantime the DPW will survey and have the area prepared for the poured in place surface and the layout for the components that will become the play space.

Stay tuned there will be notices posted on the progress as it happens.

We found a home! The select board voted unanimously to allow the Commission on Disability build the Falmouth Community Space at Goodwill Park. Thanks to the working group for it's careful consideration of the summer day trippers who take over Goodwill all summer. Solutions to the problems have been considered and the Working Group has come to ideas to curb the problem.

We now have a working group who with Town Manager Mike Renshaw will be looking at town properties to determine what makes the most sense for the play space. Still keeping East Falmouth on the table. We are fast tracking this project. Stay tuned!!!

In January the working group put together by Town Manager Mike Renshaw, working with me as well, will be meeting to determine the best location for the play space. The town manager has assured me he is committed with the Commission on Disabilities to bring this project to fruition as quickly as we can. Hopefully, we will be able to announce a location not far into 2024, with enough time to write an application to the Community Preservation Committee to begin working on the project in August. An application would not be approved until Town Meeting in 2025 but we could begin to fund raise before that.

The engineer's who created the affordable housing plan/ play space messes up and got the boundary for the buffer zone wrong. Instead of only giving us an acre and a half to complete the play space in it's looking like we are going to get the full 3 acres that the design calls for. I am patiently waiting for word and a new plan to come back from Boston where the original plans were done. Can't wait for that day-- we have to go through a public comment period before we can begin construction but I am hopeful it will not be a long process and we can begin raising funds.

We have a home! Right now the ball is in the engineer's hands because of an error in calculations on a buffer zone. Once that is straightened out there will be more news coming, but there will also be a public comment period coming on the affordable housing planned for Davisville Rd and also the play space. Keep the faith, I will NOT let the multi -generational INCLUSIVE play space die!
