This New House Recap: It's Official this new house is all buttoned up. A bittersweet moment as all building comes to a finish and the brand new Modern American Craftsman that I designed is ready for the market. It was a madhouse for a few weeks as all the subs and my crews are back on site to add the finishing touches. As for the countertops, I decided to keep a consistent flow throughout the house. So I choose Nero Marquina and Calacatta Quartz countertops for the kitchen and all the bathrooms. Now to a huge design element in the new build is the use of metals, my choice of matt black incorporated a modern feel with an eye catching contrast against all the lite colors. This is a custom luxury turn key home which is solidified by all the matt black finish plumbing trim and electrical fixtures. Moving into the kitchen take notice of the black stainless steel KitchenAid gourmet appliances keeping with the modern flair versus the traditional cabinets. My crew and I Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone went above and beyond to handcraft a countertop to ceiling height kitchen backsplash that features a herringbone patterned cooktop accent. Finally my carpenters Angelo Gallace Design&Build added the cherry on top when they installed the Amish handmade transitional styled wood and metal stairwell railing with recessed panel newel posts. I wanted to thank everyone who liked and commented on my posts. It was an honor to share this experience with all my friends, family and customers. Wishing everyone health and happiness. This New House Recap: Post lockdown 😉😉😉. It's back to work for most and I am truly blessed that construction was a phase one re-opening. This month the build has transformed from a house to a home. As my carpenters nail away the finish millwork, my painters are right behind brushing and rolling the three levels plus garage. Spring is here which means time to design the landscape and solidify the curb appeal. Starting off my carpenters handcrafted custom wood features throughout the home that adds an unrivaled design characteristic. The interior millwork in this new house is top shelf quality and the home owner will discover the home’s uniqueness when they have a moment to take it all in. Spend a moment and view the handmade floor to ceiling recessed panel stairwell, craftsman style window and door casings, six inch wide crown moulding, recessed panel columns, recessed panel basement stairwell accent wall and a kitchen island accent coffered ceiling. Next up, my painter who paints with passion was tasked with painting all the walls and endless wood accents. Keeping with the custom luxury theme of this new house it was an easy choice when it came to choosing the paint and stain. Benjamin Moore Regal select for the walls, doors and wood. Old Masters hand wiped stain for the white oak floors and stair treads. Another feature that makes this house feel more like a home was the installation of three Dimplex North America fireplaces. Outside, spring and sunshine made way for some much needed landscape design. The crew also erected two HB&G Building Products, Inc. recessed panel fiberglass load bearing columns which support the front entryway balcony that completed the exterior curb appeal. As the build is coming to a finish I wanted to say thanks to all the subs that worked for me at this new house, especially my full time guys at Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Design&Build and Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone. This New House March Recap: God Bless America 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 rang true, as we look back in retrospect on a shift in humanity during March of this year. My prayers and condolences to all those affected directly and indirectly. Up until the lockdown and reopening 😉😉😉 of New York it was millwork and tile time at the new build. Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone was tasked with completing a basement floor, laundry room, 3 bathrooms, 2 entryways, kitchen backsplash and mud room. Tile work is second nature to me, my Father Angelo Gallace was in the industry for 30 years. So, I had to reach deep down in my tile tool pail to pull off exclusive, one of a kind custom tile designs. The design elements I incorporated into creating the unique tile work allowed for a fusion of tile stones, patterns, shapes, colors and textures. All the diiferent tiles are fused seamlessly in each room with custom matt black and chrome Schluter-Systems North America quadec trim and corners. Check out the signature touch I put on the handmade soap niches and herringbone patterned entryways plus mud room. Finish carpentry, started this month and no better time since it is Saint Joseph's Day on March nineteenth. He is also the patron saint of real estate. Legend has it, that you should bury a Saint Joseph statue upside down to sell your home. In full swing, the carpenters installed the American made custom kitchen cabinets and center island. As a builder it was important to build natural and organic. The natural wood sourced for the floors was delivered raw and natural then the crew sanded by hand and will be stained on site with a hand wiping staining technique which pops the grain. A water based poly will be used for the top coat. In contrast, to the pre finished engineered hardwood floors made in China and treated with harmful chemicals like formaldehyde. This New House February Recap: February got off to a hot start as the new build received the heart of the heating system. Now interior finish work can commence. Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone kicked off a mild February by buttoning up the exterior masonry work as we piped in all the mortar joints on the extensive brickwork. My roots run deep in Tile and Masonry so the interior and exterior of this new house will showcase exclusive custom tile and masonry craftsmanship. Some signature features include a one thousand square foot fully finished basement. The floors supplied by Cancos Tile & Stone are clad in four foot long by eight inch wide wood plank porcelain tiles which are laid in a random pattern to mimic a real hardwood floor. Keeping with the amenity rich custom luxury theme the home comes with an office accent wall and 3 fireplaces encased in ceiling to floor Eldorado Stone Tundrabrick with bright white mortar joints. Designed after an American Craftsman with a modern edge I choose to install a six inch wide white oak hardwood floor throughout the first and second levels. Harvested from the smoky mountains of Tennessee and imported direct from the mill the natural, modern hardwood floor will contrast perfectly against the three traditional brick fireplaces. All these creative touches will be heated by an advanced engineered HVAC system. Designed so there is seven and a half feet of height in the basement and a complete elimination of baseboards throughout the home. As a builder who takes pride in his work so the new home owner enjoys every aspect of their nest, I went the extra mile to fully insulate and drywall the detached garage. Hope this post finds everybody well. Finally back to a sense of normalcy and a renewed focus on the home. Recent events have spurred new housing terms like and which are leading the US economy on a v-shaped recovery. The spec home I was building is now completed as of May 1st(Photos coincide with monthly recap). Facebook posts have accelerated my company in many facets. I am very grateful for a visual medium to share the top quality craftsmanship plus top shelf materials my crew and I construct. I will be posting recaps of the spec home build, tile and masonry jobs slightly before and right after reopening construction for the pandemic. As we now put more emphasis on the home it is of the utmost importance that you find a bona-fide construction company to complete any home improvements. Big or small the job will be completed with professionalism, perfection and PPE. January Recap: Work slowed dramatically at this new house as Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Design&Build waited patiently for the plumber to install the boiler during his busy heating season. With the down time I shifted my attention to Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone creating six new tile bathrooms plus a complete masonry makeover project. All was not lost at this new house as we were able to take advantage of the mild winter weather and install the Eldorado Stone Ashland Tundra Brick. I designed this Modern American Craftsman style home to have a transition between modern and traditional elements. Installing a modern gray brick solidified a Metropolitan modern appeal with the timeless characteristics of a traditional brick. As a builder I take pride in my final finished product and also with the jobs I create to keep a small batch of America's labor force well paid through uncertain times. This New House Week 11-13 Holiday Recap: The last few holiday weeks were very productive for Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Design&Build "trade specific crews" as this new house received some exterior final touches including major hardscape upgrades. While Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone kept busy during bad weather days handcrafting 5 new bathrooms offsite(images coming soon). This piece of real estate development sits on a corner property. It is extremely unique as it provides two outdoor living spaces. A dining patio off the kitchen facing North and a completely separate green space and fire pit patio with the best Southern exposure Nassau County has to offer. Both entertaining yard spaces are now fenced off by a Modern American Craftsman styled fence. Keep in mind not every PVC fence is created equal. As a builder I choose an upgraded pure PVC fence much different then the lesser quality recycled PVC fences. Made to stand the the test of time and glad to use materials I am proud to put my name behind. Capitalizing on this Southern exposed yard space I decided to give the new homeowners a spot to retreat to after a festive time on the Northern dining patio space. This New House Week 10 Recap:
The old adage "when it rains it pours" rang true as Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone capitalized on breaks in the inclement weather. Mean while the electrician was back at the job site for the final connections. This new home is now outfitted with all LED high-hats, GFI outlets properly located, hardwired fire alarms, wall mounted flat screen outlets, HVAC units and the proper outlets with room specific amp's. With this type of electrical engineering connectivity I can insure the new homeowner can run this new house at full electrical capacity and never blow a circuit breaker or cause a dangerous overload to the panel. Take notice of the Therma Tru Reeb factory painted entry door with twelve inch sidelights another custom feature upgrade that my carpenter installed this week. As for the exterior it was all hands on deck when two days weather was mild enough to handcraft the 1500 square feet of Cambridge Armortec Sherwood Collection pavers. Keeping with the Modern American Craftsman element I designed, a three piece Ledge stone pattern was the perfect fit. Trimmed with a dark contrasting 300 lineal foot 6x9 border the look was complete. As a builder I want the new homeowner to enjoy the the outdoor space Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone created as much as the inside that Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Design&Build created. That being said it was on the top of my list to handcraft an outdoor retreat that seamlessly transitions from the interior to exterior. This New House Week 9 Recap: Winter is fast approaching, so it's all hands on deck for both the drywall crew and Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone as we raced against the clock to beat the inclement weather. This week an army of drywall compound Pro's attacked this new house. Taping and compounding fresh drywall with speed and skill is an art. It's all "in the wrist" and takes time to develop this talent. The "trade specific" drywall crew are constant professionals, taping and compounding is their only task everyday. With artisans handling the fine details of creating walls smooth as silk, I can insure the new homeowner a 100% perfect job. Considering a weather shortened week Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stonewas determined to craft a new hardscape to match the structure it surrounds. "Flat work" was of the upmost importance. As of now all the finished concrete for this new house is poured and set. Another task completed is the locally quarried natural blue stone steps. Keeping with the Modern American Craftsman design element and built to stand the test of time in the most foot traffic heavy areas of the home, blue stone is a custom upgrade that the new homeowner will enjoy for decades. As a builder this new house will remain rock solid as the day it was created. I made it a point of pouring a 3,500psi concrete base for the 1,300 square feet of custom upgraded Cambridge pavers that will clad the patio, driveway and walkways. This advanced process will allow the pavers to sit on a solid base structure preventing the pavers from shifting or settling. Long Island has many freeze and thaw cycles which tend to move pavers out of place, once again not a concern for the new homeowners, just relax and enjoy maintenance-free for decades to come. This New House Week 8 Recap: This week big steps were taken for the completion of both the exterior and interior canvas. It created a turning point on this new house as it transitions from a building material into a finish material job site. The drywall contractor worked his crew to the max to complete the drywall installation during this short Holiday week. Having the right drywall crew makes all the difference to a quality custom home builder. I made it a point to use the proper crews and top shelf materials throughout this build. The new homeowner will have a warranty on any defects on this new home. With the right craftsmanship and material this new house will resist the urge to settle and create unsightly cracks in the drywall. The first floor will feature nine foot ceilings, installing regular stock drywall would create three seams on each wall that would need to be compounded and potentially crack. Keeping with the custom theme of the home I upgraded to a 54" wide drywall board. Now there is only one seam on all the walls in this new house much less of a chance for cracking and much more of a seamless look. Another upgraded feature was a new and improved purple drywall board which is superior then its cheaper "green board" counterpart. Purple board resists moisture, mold and mildew which is why as a quality custom home builder I opted for purple board in all the bathrooms. As the drywallers "rocked" the house, Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone was steadfast in my approach to excavate, grade, form and build structure to the exterior hardscape. This property came with a bunch of overgrowth, improper grading and pitch. To solve this problem my machine operator went to work with the skid steer "bobcat" excavating a nurseries worth of bushes and trees allowing the hardscape to finally breath. Next he operated like a surgeon to unearth the 100 year old improperly settled soil and spread it properly to other much needed low spots. This new house is now graded and pitched perfect for optimal drainage of Mother Natures harshest elements. Wrapping up this short but productive week my mason's and I formed out the new concrete pads and built three massive steps which are soon to be capped in locally quarried blue stone, cut with a clean edge, keeping in line with the Modern American Craftsman element I designed. This New House Week 7 Recap: This week the carpenter's and the spray foam insulation crew were buttoning up the interior before the drywall crew arrives next week. On the exterior my Mason's and I were hard at work developing the curb appeal using the finest tools of the trade. The week started with my carpenter's hammering away to get some last minute structural framing into place before the spray foam was applied. Keeping with the theme of a custom quality home I decide to spray foam the entire 1000 square foot basement. Not only does this create a unmatched air seal and proper R-value it also creates a moisture and v***r barrier. This new house will have a finished basement and I wanted to make sure the new homeowner can enjoy this family entertainment space uninterrupted by the harsh elements. As a builder I want to rest easy at night knowing I develop a safe home for a family to occupy. With the foresight of designing a finished basement my architect drafted the plans with an egress window. The Wellcraft series egress window will insure if any emergency should occur you have an alternate exit out of the basement. Outside Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone "trade-specific crew" finished up the demolition of the existing concrete pads totaling 40 yards ripped and removed. Next task for my crew is to "run lines" so we can map out three of this new house's natural stone capped porch steps. As a tile and stone contractor I understand the importance for the right "tools of the trade" I go to great lengths to outfit my "trade-specific crews" with industry leading tools. In turn, my tradesman take more pride in their craftsmanship. The top shelf tools create a better quality product then their cheaper, inferior counterparts. Not to mention no breakdowns or failures causing delays for my customers. This New House Week 6 Recap: This week the work force was back in action air sealing the structure and installing the custom white oak staircase on the interior while Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone was demolishing the concrete on the exterior. Starting off was the insulation crew. I want to be able to stand behind the homes I build and create them with energy efficiency and longevity as my top priorities. That being said I opted to spray foam insulate the "bones" of this new house. The insulation crew first applies an energy efficient air-seal. This seal will fill all the cracks, crevices and rim joist bays of the home guaranteeing zero air loss or air infiltration. Town of Hempstead has high standards for its thermal and air seal code requirements. The spray foam will insure the structure will meet or exceed the H.E.R.S. 54 energy rating. The new homeowner will incur a lifetime of heating and cooling savings as a result of the upgraded air-seal insulation. Take notice of the application for the window and door seal as well as the Hilti FS-One Max fire stop all necessary steps taken to build a quality custom luxury home. Arriving for the first time on this job site was the finish carpenters. Their major task this week was to install the top-shelf custom solid hardwood white oak staircase. One on the major focal points and the "expressway"of this new home. I designed this stairwell with aesthetic appeal being my most important concern. When you enter the foyer the open concept winding white oak stairwell with wainscoting will signify the modern American craftsman interior design. To wrap up this weeks work load Giuseppe Angelo Gallace Tile&Stone started demolition and excavation of the existing concrete patio, driveway and walkway.
