Seasons of joy are wonderful and this morning at 5:15am was one of those. This song and scripture has brought me much comfort through tears of grief and tears of joy throughout the years of many difficult seasons and seasons of joy.

Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4 "For everything there is a season... a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance."

I am thankful for these churches and their choirs Brooklyn Tabernacle and Shadow Mountain Community and musicians like Kirk Franklin who write about the realities of this life and the strength and comfort we find in Jesus. Charlie Kirk’s message “this too will pass” is a reminder that even long seasons of difficulty, pain and struggle will eventually pass.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NLT) "For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that will last forever. So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we focus on what we cannot see. For the things we see now will end in a moment, but the things we cannot see will last forever."

Psalm 103:15-16 "Our days on earth are like grass; we flourish like a flower of the field, but the wind blows on us and we are gone."

But the brief seasons of joy are wonderful and this morning at 5:15am was one of those. Psalm 30:5 (NLT) "For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning."

Truett has been diligently seeking out a new car after fixing up his first car and selling it. Last night while he was working at Chick-Fil-A till after 10pm Tiffany and I picked up his new car a 33 year old classic 1993 Mazda Miata 5spd. We drove through his drive through around 9pm so he could get a glimpse. He said that last hour was torture as he was so excited to come look at it. So this morning, at 5:15am before heading to work, Tiffany said it would make his day if I’d wake him and take Gina ride around the neighborhood before work. Glad I took a few minutes even though it was dark and chilly. We had a joyful time together thanking the Lord for His provision and asking God to bless Truett that he would learn much working on this car, that it would serve him well taking him safely to all the places he will be a blessing to many people, and that he would always seek God first in using these blessings for the glory of God in his life.

James 1:17 "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

Philippians 4:19 (NLT) "And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus."

Funny how the little things like a 5 minute brisk pre-dawn ride around the neighborhood in that little 2 seater convertible with my youngest son would bring joy to our family, but it did even Haddie last night was excited for her first ride before Truett got back. That joy in our children brings Tiffany and I joy.

Fight Complaining & Sarcasm with Honey 🍯

"Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones." Proverbs 16:24

That phrase you sometimes hear “fight complaining and sarcasm with honey” it's straight out of the Bible.

Complaining is grumbling. Paul says do everything without grumbling or arguing (Phil. 2:14-15). When Israel grumbled in the wilderness, it showed a heart that didn't trust God. The fix? Replace complaining with thanksgiving. That's honey.

Sarcasm is mockery dressed up as humor. Proverbs calls the mocker proud. And Ephesians 4:29 draws the line: nothing comes out of your mouth that tears down - only what builds up and helps those who hear it. Sarcasm cuts; gracious words heal.

Here's the wisdom: "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." — Proverbs 15:1

You can't fight fire with fire. You fight bitterness with sweetness. That's what breaks the cycle.

Now don't confuse honey with weakness. Sometimes the most loving thing is a direct, honest conversation (Matt. 18). But even then, the Bible says do it with gentleness (Gal. 6:1). Truth wrapped in grace - that's still honey. Truth wrapped in sarcasm just breeds more bitterness.

Kill the complaining in your own heart with gratitude first. Then let your words bring healing instead of hurt. 🍯

🇺🇸 Today we celebrate 250 years of freedom, and we remember that every acre, every home, and every blessing ultimately belongs to Jesus Christ.
As a family, we want our properties, our time, and our resources to be more than comforts in this life, we want them to be tools for eternal stewardship, used to serve others and point hearts to the gospel.

We’re thankful to live in a nation where we can worship freely, open our doors in hospitality and point people to Jesus!
